Lake Tekapo, Mt. John & Mt. Cook NP

Day 6 (22.1.2013): Christchurch to Lake Tekapo

Today I drove to Lake Tekapo with 2 short stops in Ashburton and a nice little town called Geraldine. It was roughly a 3hr drive and pretty exhausting as I haven't been driving on the "wrong" side of the road in ages. Also, I think I rented the oldest car ever (a Nissan Sunny 2000-build) but for the difference in price I can do a lot of cool stuff. Hiked up Mt. John in the afternoon for fantastic 360° views.

Such as the evening activity in Lake Tekapo: star gazing
this was with Fraser Gunn, a local astro-photographer - http://www.frasergunn.co.nz. He loves his job, is very passionate about the subject matter and still able to explain to an amateur in easy to understand language. The first hour we spent looking through his telescopes and watching the moon, orion (nebula), etc. the second hour he mounted my camera behind his telescope and we produced with the help of some software the awesome shot below. this was sooo cool!!!

Day 7 (23.1.2013): Mt. Cook National Park

1.5hr drive to Mt. Cook National Park. Unfortunately, Mt. Cook was hiding behind a little cloud but I did hike a round to view Müller glacier. some beautiful views included.
