Rotterdam

I can’t believe I’m here in Rotterdam already since nearly two weeks … time is flying …

I didn’t really have good luck upon arrival …

  1. My room was disgustingly dirty when I arrived … at least, it was thoroughly cleaned (and repaired) the next day by the housing department from uni … now it’s acceptable
  2. I was able to bring my bike from Austria on the plane to The Netherlands (free of charge) … I was just not able to find a taxi drive who was willing to take the bike, so I left it at Rotterdam Centraal (the train station) … I picked it up the next day (it was still there - in one piece with all pieces attached) … unfortunately, I was not able to fully screw the pedal in … thought I ride it to uni and find someone who is stronger than me who will fix that … well, about half the way and the pedal fell off (and actually needed the whole thingy replaced) … 25 Euro …
  3. My camera is not working anymore … the lens can’t be moved anymore, hence, no pictures can be taken anymore either …

Thought after these 3 things it must be fine … well, today, fully geared up for a pleasure bike ride to Gauda, I found my bike with a flat … so, no pleasure ride but pushing the bike back to the shop to get the fixed …another 30 Euro gone because it needs not only a new tube but also a new tire! *grrrrrrrrrrr*

Besides these pieces of bad luck – and the weather (it rains every couple of mins, you never know how it’s going to be next) – Rotterdam is pretty nice. I live about 20mins walking distance from uni, in Kralingen, which is the better district of Rotterdam and has heaps of nice houses in a very green surrounding …

Classes started already last week … have a really good study group for the Sustainability class … and a really chatty, pretty unproductive group for Entrepreneurship … hope that’s getting better soon … otherwise classes are good, enjoy the Supply Chain one as well as the Entrepreneurship class.
